Photodex Slideshows

A popular way of viewing our images is the use of Photodex slideshows set to music and motion. Slideshows not only display the images but the motion and music add an entertainment element that has often made the slideshows more popular than the images individually.

Some examples of our slideshow work can be viewed at:

At RawFocus we always create a web-based slideshow first for the customer to view their images. If problems are experienced accessing the slideshow (see possible reasons below)then we also make the images available via the Internet without the slideshow effects.

The most common reason for not being able to access the slideshow is that Photodex needs to download a harmless ActiveX applet file onto your computer which is sometimes hampered by firewalls or anti-virus programmes.

When clicking on the link to our Photodex slideshows (as above), you should be able to view a few thumbnail pictures of the shows available. Clicking on any thumbnail image will prompt the download of the applet. At this point your Internet browser may warn you of an impending download that you must manually permit to download/install. Therafter the slideshow should open and you only need click on the central image to start the show.

If you can reach the web link to the slideshow but nothing happens when you click on a thumbnail, this usually means your computer has actively refused it due to a firewall/security policy. Many corporate computers will not permit ActiveX downloads as standard, so will not work but do not display error messages or warnings.

An alternative way of viewing the slideshow is via Realplayer 10.5 which can be downloaded from:

http://www.download.com/RealPlayer/3000-2139_4-10255189.html

Once downloaded, just paste the Photodex URL shown earlier into the RealPlayer URL box. Note that earlier versiions of RealPlayer may not have a URL box so you may have to upgrade to 10.5.

Finally, if you can access the slideshows, but experience long pauses with them, this is usually because you have too many other programmes open using your computer's resources. We suggest closing all other programmes before using Photodex to view the show without interuption of streaming for resources.
